Students in the fourth grade are given the opportunity to develop habits that will help them throughout their school career. One of those habits is turning in all work completely finished neatly and on time.
There is not much “homework” assigned in the fourth grade. Sometimes, students do not finish the work they are assigned to do in class. This becomes homework. Here is the fourth grade homework/late work policy for the year:
1. The work assigned in class is due NO LATER than the following morning by 9:00 a.m. Any work turned in after 9 a.m. is considered late.
2. All “late work” will automatically be dropped a full grade for each day it is late. For example, a 98%, which is an “A,” becomes an 88%, a “B.” If it is not turned in the following day, it becomes a “78” and so on.
Late work problems can be completely avoided by encouraging a study/reading time every night. Each student will be given an assignment notebook on the first day of school to help them keep track of what he/she did during the day. Help your child become organized and responsible at home by checking assignments, creating a time and place for school work, and emphasizing the importance of good work. Help your child practice the organizational skills he/she is learning so that good habits will be learned early.
